Riina Heinonen is a Finnish textile and visual artist who is best known for her pattern design. She has designed surface patterns for both clothing and home textiles in cooperation with Finnish and international brands. In her design work, she focuses on the storytelling of patterns and collections, often inspired by nostalgia and phenomena of cultural history.

As a freelancer, Heinonen works on illustrations and pattern collections both independently and on commission. She most often creates her illustrations and pattern designs with varying types of watercolors and inks before the digital finishing.

Riina Heinonen graduated from Aalto University of Arts, Design and Architecture with a Master of Arts degree from the Fashion, Clothing and Textile Design MA programme in 2022.
